I picked up a camera in 2019 and haven't looked back. As a musician by night, I love making sure that your photos aren't going to look like anyone else's, whether that means we go grab a beer and snap some photos at a brewery, or I have to conduct traffic to get "the shot", or I have to drive through NYC in rush hour to meet you in CT (it's happened), I'll do it.

I know what it's like to be in front of the camera all too well, so I completely understand and empathize with how nerve wrecking it can be. We will get through it together and I promise, it will be a blast :)

The Wandering Creative Experience

Let's be honest about something: Being photographed can be incredibly uncomfortable, jarring, or just not your cup of tea. BUT...portraits require you to put yourself in front of a camera.

I want you to LOVE your experience. I want you to LOVE your session, your elopement, all of it. I promise you I will not spend time making you do countless poses that you've seen on everyone else's walls. I will document your personality, the love between you and your partner, the pride you have in who you are as a human being. We will run around downtown Memphis, or whatever city I've met you in, and we will capture your photos in a way that only compliments and enhances who you are. Then we'll hug, and go live our lives :)

Best experience ever! Laramie was so fun and professional, she made my husband and I feel comfortable and the shoot turned out amazing! She was so flexible with our dates and details of the shoot, super easy to work with and just a dream come true! In love with our photos and the memories we made!

Laramie and her husband photographed our wedding this past July, and we can't say enough good things about them! We absolutely LOVE our photos! Neither of us are super comfortable in front of a camera, but Laramie made it so fun, easy, and made us look natural and not awkward! She captured the essence of all of the moments- the joy, the love, and all of the excitement of our wedding day! We love that she captured so many pictures of us in the moment and not just posed pictures. Her photography and editing is so artistic and beautiful. We are planning to print photos for our wall but we can't decide which because there are so many good ones! Before our big day, Laramie talked us through everything and they met with us a couple times to make sure everything would go smoothly and answered all of our questions...We recommend A Wandering Creative to anyone looking for gorgeous, artistic, beautiful photos!!

Laramie is a phenomenal photographer! She made the whole process easy from start to finish. Excellent communicator, extremely professional, if I could give her 10 stars, I would. Not only did she produce gorgeous photos for my wedding, but she is also a very sweet person and made our photo session a blast. While she photographed our ceremony, she was so quiet that I forgot she was there, and I didn't feel nervous at all. For your next event, hire her. I couldn't have asked for a better photographer or wedding album.

You absolutely fucking nailed it and maybe I’m just going to wallpaper my house with these pictures. You were so easy to work with and rolled perfectly with our ideas. The first thing my mom said when she saw these was “wow she really captured exactly who you two are” and we both feel the same way.

Laramie was absolutely wonderful! Working with her on all the details of the wedding was so easy- I truly felt heard in every conversation. She was ready to adapt into every role and aspect throughout the night. My husband and I were every nervous about the picture process and feeling awkward but the pictures came out amazing. We couldn’t get enough compliments about the emotion portrayed through the camera. We would absolutely recommend her!

You were such a dream to us yesterday. Safe, steady, directed and fun to have there. It felt so natural and right to have you there. I’m annoyed for you that you took so many great shots you’ll have to cull and edit now but I’m so dang happy, because these have been elevated to such a level of magic. No one else could have made my heart explode quite this way. Thank you so much for giving so much of yourselves to us yesterday. What a gift.

Common FAQs

Q: How long have you been a photographer?

A: I became a paid professional photographer in 2019...which in normal years isn't that long ago! In COVID years (similar to Dog years at this point), is like a decade. So much has happened since I first picked up a camera! I've traveled, have lots of out of state weddings and portraits under my belt, as well as a couple foreign countries....and it's only getting better :)

Q: How many weddings & Sessions have you photographed?

A: As of 2022 I have over 60 weddings & elopements in my portfolio as a lead photographer, and twice as many portrait sessions. The more weddings I've photographed, the more I've become aware that I really love the intimacy of portrait sessions and private ceremonies. There's just something about doing it with just you and your partner, and maybe a handful of people you love.

Q: Do I need an engagement session?

A: That totally depends on you and what you need! You can use the photos for your save-the-dates if you're having a post elopement reception, website registries, framed prints for your guest table, bar, and your house... and of course Facebook & Instagram! Plus, it's a way for you to get a little practice in front of the camera before your big day and it gives us an opportunity to get to know each other. :) I love grabbing a drink or a coffee pre-shoot, just to get a little more comfy and ease any nerves. If you're camera shy, I highly recommend it, and it doesn't have to be a long and grueling shoot. If you don't care about engagement photos- I say skip them :)

Q: What kind of equipment do you use?

A: Not assuming you'll know what I'm talking about, but I personally use a Canon R6 (mirrorless) with prime lenses. I also have a trusty 6D that I'll whip out if I need a backup, but there's usually two mirrorless cameras on me during any ceremony. Both are literally on me at all times throughout your elopement day so I never have to worry about changing lenses, switching memory cards, or changing batteries. Every moment matters - and this is why the majority of my clients come to me because of the "candid and documentary style". I don't miss anything!

Q: Do you offer any albums, prints, canvases, guest books, etc?

A: Prints and Canvases! But I want you feeling 1,000% comfortable and excited about the quality of your photographs before placing orders on those. That way you only order exactly what you want, when you want, and when you know with confidence that they are going to look amazing on your walls and in your fine art prints. And all of this is done & ordered right through your online gallery!

Q: Do you offer payment plans?

A: Yes, I do! Session fees are due at the time of booking (within 48 hours). However, if you need a payment plan, I can stretch it into equal 1/2's with 50% due at the time of booking, and 50% due 1 week before your session. Just let me know what you prefer, and I will make it happen. It's that easy. Photography is expensive, I absolutely get that and want to make this as easy as possible.

Q: what happens if you aren't able to make it to the session?

In the super unlikely event that I am too ill, injured, or there's some other emergency and rescheduling is not an option for you, I have a list of colleagues that I can call on to replace me that have similar styles of photography. If this were to occur, another professional would photograph for me, and I would still edit your session. All that said, I have not once missed a wedding, elopement, or portrait session.

Q: How do I book you for my Session?

A: Love that question the most! To book me for your unique session, simply let me know what your ideal date is, as well as a back up date if I'm not available on your first choice! You'll received an invoice & contract, and the rest is bliss :)
