Katherine & Pete’s Midtown Memphis Elopement gallery has been delivered and I am so, so excited about it. They both live in Brooklyn, NY, work in Manhattan, but traveled to Memphis to get married in the living room of Katherine’s parents house. Being their elopement photographer was an honor, and this day was the absolute sweetest. If you’re not sure if an elopement is right for you, keep reading and maybe Katherine, Pete and I can convince you :)
An Intimate Memphis Elopement
The Details
Katherine got ready at her parents house, while Peter and his family prepared at their Airbnb just a few blocks away. I volunteered to help with florals, as all of this came together in a quick amount of time. And wow, florals are not for the faint of heart! All of the flowers I used were sourced from Costco, Whole Foods, Tulips.com, and the heaven-sent Mili’s Flower Shop. Mili is so creative and kind, she helped me with my Protea choices (yes, she had a Protea in stock <3) and guided me through how to layer the bouquet. If it hadn’t been for her, the bouquet wouldn’t have come together like it did:
The Elopement Ceremony
For this Memphis elopement, Katherine and Pete only had their immediate families in attendance. The room was intimate and relaxed. Katherine’s mother performed the ceremony :)
The Elopement & Family Portraits
Once the ceremony was over, there was toasting and laughing, hugging, crying…just genuine family time. Then we got ourselves together and all went out to the Memphis Botanic Garden for portraits. The staff at MBG is so great, and it’s so easy to schedule time for photos, for a small fee. You can do that here :) This space is also great for a quick elopement if you want to get married outside. You can peep another elopement session I did just a few weeks prior, right here.
Once we were done at the Gardens, Katherine, Pete and I drove downtown to Harbortown for a few more shots (to include the sunset of course).
A Memphis Elopement might be right for you :)
If there were 1,000 Midtown Memphis elopement sessions for 1,000 couples who want them, I would do them in a heartbeat. I love Midtown, I love Memphis, and I love the city life and all it has to offer. I wish I could share every single photo from this beautiful day in April.
If you were on the fence, this is your push! Go elope, keep it simple, focus on each other. And email me, I’m ready to document: hello@awanderingcreative.com
I'm Laramie (she/her) and no matter how you plan to celebrate, I've got your back. I often work with couples who scale down their wedding plans in an effort to escape the pressure and tradition pushed upon them by society / family. I've even been trusted with secret ceremonies that to this day I haven't ever shared.
I am an advocate for your peace, your ideas, and YOUR day. That's a promise.
Happy everyday!
