A gorgeous wedding full of heart and soul doesn’t have to be a grand, frivolous affair. It can be just as meaningful, romantic, and memorable with just you and your partner or a small gathering of your closest friends and family. Additionally, a smaller wedding or elopement gives you way more flexibility regarding where to host your wedding! Memphis is home to plenty of charming spots perfect for an intimate wedding. Here is a list of some of my favorite creative small wedding venues in Memphis!
There are so many sweet, intimate locations throughout the gardens and the arboretum for a quiet outdoor wedding. Whether you say “I do” in front of one of their beautiful sculptures or amidst lush flowers and greenery, it’s an excellent spot for a romantic garden wedding.
River Inn of Harbor Town is a boutique hotel that blends classic Southern style and modern sophistication on the banks of the Mississippi River. With a beautiful paved path overlooking the water, this small wedding venue in Memphis is a great place for a riverbank ceremony. Additionally, you can follow it up with a lovely getaway or meal at one of River Inn of Harbor Town’s delicious restaurants.
Shelby Farms Park is one of the largest urban parks in the country, with over 40 miles of trails, 20 bodies of water, and their own herd of buffalo! Hence, it’s an excellent spot for an outdoor adventure or a small, scenic Memphis wedding for a couple that loves and appreciates great, wild, and outdoor wedding venues.
Lichterman Nature Center is another great spot for an outdoorsy couple, with beautiful arbors and gazebos perfect for a touching vow exchange, picturesque lakes, and over 65 acres of meadows and forests. If you want to hold a small celebration, this small wedding venue in Memphis also has a special events pavilion perfect for celebrating with your favorite people!
Dixon Gallery and Gardens is a beautiful venue for an intimate wedding with 17 acres of beautiful gardens and grounds, including a quaint, bright greenhouse perfect for a small vow exchange. While larger spaces are available, a small wedding at Dixon has plenty of flexibility and endless opportunities to create a romantic wedding.
Chimes & Occasions is home to a beautiful non-denominational chapel with 15-foot ceilings designed to feel like an old French chapel. With a beautifully landscaped courtyard and space for a small reception indoors, it is one of the most simplistic Memphis wedding venues with old-school vibes and plenty of antique charm.
The Balinese Ballroom was built in 1876 and has been beautifully restored to host various events. Furthermore, with rich brick walls and an elegantly industrial aesthetic, it’s the perfect space to transform into a gorgeous ceremony space or to use for a cozy and romantic reception.
409 South Main is a historic building that exudes warmth and charm. It also has exposed brick walls, rustic wooden beams, exposed ceiling ductwork, and gorgeous hardwood floors. Nestled into a vibrant Memphis neighborhood, it’s one of the many ideal venues for a little wedding that embraces history and brings its own fun personality!

I'm Laramie (she/her) and no matter how you plan to celebrate, I've got your back. I often work with couples who scale down their wedding plans in an effort to escape the pressure and tradition pushed upon them by society / family. I've even been trusted with secret ceremonies that to this day I haven't ever shared.
I am an advocate for your peace, your ideas, and YOUR day.
That's a promise.
